An Exploration of Favorite Points- Lessons Learned From Applied Channel Theory

Location: Seattle Institute of East Asian Medicine (www.sieam.edu)

More Information here- 14 NCCAOM and California PDAs pending

Dates: June 6-7, 2025

Instructors: Yefim Gamgoneishvili and Jason Robertson

This interactive two-day class will explore the practical application of commonly used points by two senior apprentices of Dr. Wang Juyi (王居易). An understanding of the fundamentals of Applied Channel Theory and channel palpation are strongly encouraged for those considering the course.

Beijing professor Wang Juyi would often use a metaphor when talking about the nature of acupuncture points. He would say that:

‘Points are like friends we know. Some friends we might do anything with- go on a walk, go on vacation together or have over for dinner any day of the week. Other points are like friends we see rarely, but when there is an event that we know we both like, we get together. Although rarely seen, we still might have a deep relationship with these friends rooted in a very specific interest’.

This class will be an event where two old friends and fellow apprentices get together to go deeply and thoroughly into points they know well and use often.

ACT Mentorship Program: An Exploration of Point Categories (Online)

  • Google Calendar ICS

Dr. Wang Ju-Yi’s lifetime of curiosity as a clinician and historian culminated in his development of Applied Channel Theory which revived ancient diagnostic techniques that he applied clinically to deepen his understanding of channel theory. This new ACT Mentorship Program will be a deep dive into the physiology and pathophysiology of the 6 levels and how to meld the theory with the palpation to decipher channel findings and formulate clear diagnoses and treatment strategies. The instructors are all apprentices of Dr. Wang and this course is designed to provide students and practitioners with a similar experience of absorbing and integrating the teachings over time. The year long series includes 5 classes and each class includes an online follow-up group call to answer questions and discuss cases. This is a great opportunity to get feedback and clarification from each of the instructors to support your learning during the year.

This online course will take place on Sundays June 15 and 29, 2025, 9-12 EST. This is the first class in the ACT Mentorship Program and will cover the anatomy and natures of the Yuan, Luo, Xi and 5 Shu points.  Having this strong foundation in the characteristics of the point categories will help practitioners and students develop trust in the points and their ability to influence the physiology of the channels.

Instructor: Jonathan Chang

Fee: $200 for practitioners (6 CEUs pending); $150 for students

*Discounted cost for the 5-part series is $2000 for practitioners (62 CEUs pending); $1500 for students

Follow-up group call TBD based on the instructor’s schedule.

Integrating Structural Assessment and Internal Medicine

Location: Jung Tao School (www.jungtao.edu), Sugar Grove, North Carolina

More Information here 15 NCCAOM PDAs pending

Dates: June 28-29, 2025

Instructor: Jason Robertson

This hands-on weekend seminar will provide students with practical skills for using channel palpation to evaluate the interplay of structure and function in East Asian medicine. Major distal and local points will be presented and practiced for evaluating structure and function of the feet, legs, pelvis, body trunk, thoracic/lumbar regions, rib cage, neck and head. Students will learn how palpation and assessment of body alignment can allow for diagnostic refinement using a six-channel qi transformation (六經氣化 liù jīng qì huà) model.

This two-day course will be limited to those who have taken a previous course in Applied Channel Theory taught either by Dr. Robertson or another apprentice of Dr. Wang Juyi. Practitioners who have not had prior training in Applied Channel Theory will have the opportunity to complete a pre-recorded 1-day lecture (7.5 PDAs with separate registration by contacting CE@jungtao.edu) to gain that exposure.

The class will also include hands-on channel examination and point location, case studies and live cases. Participants will leave with a broader understanding of the clinical manifestations that affect these channels and how to select channels and points for treatment.

Instructors: Yefim Gamgoneishvili and Nyssa Tang

Fee: $525 for practitioners (14 CEUs pending); $400 for students

*Discounted cost for the 5-part series is $2000 for practitioners (62 CEUs pending); $1500 for students

Follow-up group call TBD based on the instructor’s schedule.

ACT Mentorship Program: Clinical Treatment Strategies

This is the 5th and final course in the ACT Mentorship Program where we will discuss how to differentiate clinical symptoms, locate the channel with the disease and learn the various methods Dr. Wang Ju-Yi used to select the appropriate channel to treat. There will be case study discussions as well as live treatments to demonstrate the process from intake, tongue, pulse and channel diagnosis to channel and point selection. Similar to jazz, the strong foundation in classical theory will allow practitioners to improvise in their clinics and create innovative treatments in response to each unique patient.

This series is designed to simulate the mentorship experience and provide the support that participants need to immerse themselves in Applied Channel Theory and trust the amazing capacity of the channels to heal disease. This approach to clinical strategies results in simple yet focused treatments that yield positive results with fewer needles.

Instructors: Nyssa Tang

Location: New York, NY

Fee: $525 for practitioners (14 CEUs pending); $400 for students
