Mei graduated from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (NY) in 2003 and practiced in New York City for one year. She then moved to China to pursue advanced studies in Chinese medicine in Tai’an, Shandong; Xiamen, Fujian; and Beijing from 2004 to 2012. She apprenticed with Dr. Wang Ju-yi from 2009 to 2012, during which time she was the main assistant and translator of Dr. Wang’s lectures for international students in Beijing and for his overseas seminars. In August 2013, she was recognized by the Beijing Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Beijing Acupuncture and Moxibustion Association and Wang Ju-yi as an apprentice and official instructor of Applied Channel Theory. She helped compile Wang Ju-yi’s Applied Channel Theory Clinical Case Studies (2014). Along with Jonathan Chang, she is working on an English translation of this book, which will be published by Eastland Press. During her stay in China, Mei also worked as a translator and editor for the People’s Medical Publishing House in Beijing (2006-2011).

Mei has taught seminars on Applied Channel Theory and palpation internationally, and was on the faculty of the World Medicine Institute (2015-2016) as an instructor for classes on Internal Medicine, Acupuncture Treatment Strategies and Chinese Herbal Medicine at the master’s degree level. She currently maintains a private practice in Honolulu, Hawaii.
